Biography:
Cintia Gargioni is a Brazilian visual artist whose work stands out for its textile sculpture and for her investigation of colour and transparency. Holder of a PhD in Paediatric Dentistry, the artist navigates between science and art, combining the academic rigour of her original training with a poetic sensibility. Her practice is shaped by consistent research into fabric manipulation techniques, in which the precision of movement is in dialogue with material fluidity.
Currently, Cintia is focused on creating the universe of Flores Imaginárias (Imaginary Flowers), a series of works that explore Brazilian identity through organic shapes and vibrant chromatic compositions.
The artist lives and works in southern Brazil, continuously improving her theoretical knowledge, including Art History studies at São Paulo School of Fine Arts. Her work has been internationally exhibited, with a highlight on her residency at the R.A.R.O. programme in Barcelona (2025).
Artist’s statement:
My artistic practice is an unfolding of emotional memories and a meticulous observation of nature. I inherited from my maternal grandmother, a dedicated seamstress, the patience for handcrafting, and from my background in Pediatric dentistry, the technical rigor and precision. Nowadays, I translate this meticulousness to textile manipulation, creating sculptures in which the material acquires new dimensions of lightness and transparency.
In my current series, "Imaginary Flowers" I explore the exuberance of Brazilian nature. Through a vibrant colour palette, I seek to evoke the diversity of our fauna, flora, and popular festivals. My pieces don't aim for literal botanical representation, but rather fantastic, organic, and fluid forms, where the combination of colours and textures celebrates the vitality and diversity of Brazil's identity.
